The Master’s program in Big Data Technologies is a joint initiative of the GATE Institute and the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, starting in the 2025/2026 academic year.
The curriculum is structured into four main tracks that build systematic knowledge and practical skills for tackling the challenges of modern data processing. Students will learn the latest approaches in artificial intelligence and work with real-world data—from IoT sensor readings and text messages to transactions, images, and documents.

Practice-Oriented Learning
Most courses include lab sessions in Java and Python, carried out on GATE Institute’s unique infrastructure. Training is powered by leading technologies from Cloudera, deployed on GATE’s private cloud, managed through Kubernetes.
International & Innovative Learning Environment
The program is taught by leading researchers and guest lecturers from partner European universities. Real-life case studies and joint projects with IT companies prepare students for immediate practical application.
Scholarship Opportunities
