The visit focused on GATE’s strategic directions and its role as a national center of excellence in the field of big data and artificial intelligence.

During the visit, GATE’s management presented key research achievements, the institute’s infrastructure, as well as projects that contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem in Bulgaria. Emphasis was placed on the interaction between scientific teams, industry and the public sector – a model that GATE is actively developing through national and international partnerships.

Minister Donchev emphasized the importance of research organizations as a driver of technological innovation, competitiveness and economic growth.

The visit took place on the eve of UpToGATE 2025 – the international forum for science, technology and innovation, organized by the GATE Institute. The event will bring together leading researchers, policymakers, investors and business representatives to discuss trends in artificial intelligence and data and outline new opportunities for the development of innovative solutions in Bulgaria and Europe.
