This initiative, funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), provides a structured framework for transforming research infrastructures into commercially viable services. The programme is built on a methodology developed by the University of Warsaw and delivered in collaboration with EIT Communities.

GATE AVS is part of the GATE Open Visualization Lab and is designed to support cities and municipalities in visualizing urban data in meaningful and accessible ways. By merging technologies such as GIS, BIM, AI, and VR/AR, the service transforms complex spatial and planning information into immersive, interactive 3D environments. This enables local authorities, urban planners, and citizens to better understand and shape future urban scenarios.

Whether addressing challenges like urban densification, climate resilience, or mobility planning, GATE AVS enhances transparency and facilitates collaborative, data-driven decision-making in the public sector.

The journey from concept to market readiness was supported by participation in two key components of the InfraBooster programme:

  • Foundation Module: Strengthened the team’s understanding of how research infrastructures (RIs) can be leveraged for broader economic and societal impact, and helped identify GATE’s commercially viable assets.
  • Practitioner Module: Focused on service design and development, including client segmentation, industrial outreach, and the creation of value-driven marketing materials. Mentorship by the University of Warsaw played a key role in refining the GATE AVS concept, which was presented during the final InfraBooster demo day and featured in the official services catalogue:
